71 Degrees North is an ITV gameshow which follows a format devised in Scandinavia. 10 celebrities, (the original version featured ordinary mortals), undertake a series of challenges in frozen Norway as they travel ever Northward and each week vote one of their number off the show. The series was graded using Baselight with the ability to pull a key off the brightly lit landscapes a very useful feature. This allowed foreground detail to be brightened while the background was darkened making more of the impressive scenery. The decision was made to keep the ever present snow clean and white while enhancing the blue of the shadows in order to make the pictures feel cold. There are some beautiful GV's that feature throughout the series which have been pushed quite hard for dramatic effect. The series was great fun to work on and it deserves to be a success.
