The Somme 1916 From Both Sides of the Wire

BBC Studios for BBC 2

On the centenary of the Battle of the Somme this three-part history presents the cataclysmic events that began on 1st July 1916 for the first time from both sides of No Man’s Land.

With access to little known German military archives, battlefield archaeologist and historian Peter Barton investigates
documents which reveal a very different history of the fighting, one that contradicts many of the myths and untruths
which have grown up around the battle.
