Colin Chipchase

Dubbing Mixer

About Colin

After completing an MSc in Sound Design at the University of Edinburgh, Colin headed south and began climbing the ranks of audio post-production. After several years in London he moved west to Bristol, motivated by the city’s reputation for factual and natural history programming. After a short stint as a freelancer he joined Evolutions on a permanent basis in 2019.

Colin prides himself on his can-do attitude, meticulous attention to detail and creative problem solving. He takes a narrative approach to mixing, carefully considering all sonic elements and how they help tell a story. Calm and proactive under pressure, he relishes the chance to collaborate with clients. Regardless of the genre, Colin has a genuine drive to ensure every project sounds as great as it possibly can.

Away from the mixing desk Colin can usually be found running, cycling, or on Saturday afternoons, playing football in Bristol’s famous Down’s League.

What people say about Colin

“Colin is thoughtful, diligent and imaginative with his work, he is also quick and efficient. Each episode of Countryfile presents its own set of challenges and I am yet to see Colin phased in any way, in fact he always seems to enjoy the challenge and his work certainly enhances the show. Above all though and perhaps most importantly he is an absolute pleasure to work and spend time locked in the dub with!”

Will Norie

Will Norie

Head of Audio (Bristol)

About Will

Will was invited to head up the audio department of Evolutions’ new Bristol facility in 2013.

After nearly a decade as Sound Supervisor at Aardman Animations, having worked on internationally acclaimed productions such as Wallace & Gromit, Chicken Run, The Pirates! Band of Misfits, Shaun the Sheep and Creature Comforts, he was excited by the opportunity to exponentially expand his client base and CV (In one year at Evolutions, he had already mixed more hours of content than 10 years in the painstaking world of animation!)

Will is a multiple award winner and nominee, including RTS and Golden Reel (MPSA) Awards. He has been passionate in his role as a BAFTA voting member in Sound, Documentary, Animation and Shorts chapters in Features and TV categories for over a decade. He has also served as jury member for multiple awards, proudly including Bristol’s very own Internationally renowned Wildscreen Panda Awards.

With over 20 years’ experience in audio and post, clients say he has an immediate and instinctive sense of narrative, an insatiable drive for craft and detail, and an ability to immediately put them at ease, whilst interpreting and achieving their highest audio aspirations.

With credits in every genre, Will has a passion for projects that invite a highly creative collaborative environment, from inception to realisation, especially in Documentary, Natural History, Drama and of course Animation!

When not pushing faders up and down, in the pursuit of audio perfection, Will can often be found cooking and entertaining for friends, renovating houses and going for long country dog walks! He is a keen carpenter and ski & snowboard fanatic.

What people say about Will

“Mixing sound on DIY SOS is a challenging job and Will does it with skill and sensitivity. He is always happy to go the extra mile and eek out the very best audio from amidst the banging and crashing of construction.”

Paolo Proto – Series Producer on DIY SOS

“I have worked with Will on numerous projects over the years including commercials, short films and broadcast work. Frequently during a track lay or mix Will will say “Ohh, I can imagine the sound I just cant describe it.” He will then go and make that sound and it is usually perfect, he has something you cant buy off the shelf, a good ear.

Will has a natural talent for getting under the skin of a project to create brilliant audio, I highly recommend him.”
